Daniel Davis
Biography
Daniel Davis built a career in professional wrestling both as a referee and an in-ring competitor, best known to fans as "Dangerous" Danny Davis in WWE. Early in his tenure, he aligned himself with the original incarnation of The Hart Foundation. He also spent several years wrestling under a mask as Mr. X. While working as a referee, Davis drew criticism for openly favoring particular wrestlers, a controversy that ultimately cost him his officiating position. After being stripped of his referee duties, he shifted into a managerial role with The Hart Foundation and launched his own wrestling career. He went on to appear at major WWE pay-per-view events, capturing a six-man tag team victory at WrestleMania III and reaching the semi-finals of the 1987 King of the Ring tournament. Davis was eventually allowed to return as a referee, and he continued working for the company until the mid-1990s.
