MOVIE
John Dullaghan's documentary on the notorious poet Charles Bukowski, *Bukowski: Born Into This*, serves both as a tender portrayal of the writer and a revealing look at his gritty way of life. Alongside rich archival clips of Bukowski's poetry recitals, the film features interviews with admirers like Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Joyce Fante, Bono, and Harry Dean Stanton. Shot in rough black-and-white by Bukowski's friend Taylor Hackford because money was scarce, these vintage films weave a romanticized image of Bukowski's drinking and fighting, cementing his legendary reputation.
